Feldon Forest Farm

My Brother has long harboured an ambition to build an earth-sheltered house. After many years of searching for the right location he and Gill bought some land near Rugby, and this has slowly been built up into a successful organic farm. It is worth remembering that for the first few years of this venture George and Gill lived off site and both had full time jobs. In due course they were able to live on site in a mobile home and ultimately work started on the house.

These photographs have been taken on my all too infrequent visits - this first page is from December 2003.

Work has started

First view of the site, from the yard gate.

South West View

South East View

East Elevation

At the eastern end the house is on two floors - the lower floor will be further bedrooms, a bathroom and an office

Main entrance

This will be the 'Front Door'

Utility Room

This is to the left of the main door. It gives an idea of how the farm building and the house were designed to integrate together

Room with a View

From the main living area, looking South East

East Window

This shot, also from the East window, again shows how the house and buildings are adjoining

Stairwell

The water is no cause for panic - remember there's no roof at this stage.

Downstairs rooms

Looking out of the lower floor into what will be the garden
