Feldon Forest Farm (3)

June 2004 - things are starting to take more shape. Stone facing is now on the exterior walls that will be exposed, and the ha-ha and pond are progressing. A ha-ha is a boundary that is invisible from the inside (i.e. the house) - in this case the terrace will end in a vertical drop to the field outside. This will keep stock out but does not interfere with the view.

Earth Sheltering

This is just the start of the many tons of earth that will have to be moved back against the sides of the house and onto the roof

The Pond

Up on the Roof

Before the soil goes on - showing the skylights and the chimney

Main Entrance

This shows the facing stone that has been used for all exposed external walls

Utility Room

Looking different now from the shot in Gallery One

Main Window

This is looking across the living area again towards the South East

This shows the pond from inside the house - it will come right up to the windows

East Window

And another view from the East window - overlooking the garden

Stairwell

Underfloor Heating

This is downstairs, but the same principle applies throughout the house. Heating pipes are carefully laid out and secured to metal gridwork before the final screed is laid
